  • Check which pattern is suitable for the job specification
  • Always ask the customer which particular network cabling standard he or she prefers: T568A or T568B
  • If you have purchased patch panels in advance, it is either T568A or T568B. Thus, the jacks should be patterned according to the patch panels.
  • The new wiring must be compatible with the existing wiring to prevent incompatibility.

If the factors given above do not apply, you have the choice whether to use either of the two network cabling standards. Just keep in mind that the new connectors being installed should match the existing connectors. In general, T568B is generally used with business installations, whereas T568A is commonly seen on residential installations. In the event the installation is not specified, T568B are normally used.

Due to advances in technology, most of the equipment used to install networks today provides wiring patterns for both T568A and T568B.
